Back to the Past

During the first semester of my final year, I participated in a collaborative motion capture/ICVFX project between QUT and a local museum. The project aimed to bring the dinosaur Australovenator into the led volume using UE5 capabilities with n-display and live-link, all to promote enhancing visitor engagement.

The proof of concept involved setting up the motion capture equipment in the museum. I assisted in calibrating the system and ensuring optimal conditions for capturing data. We worked closely with museum staff, including Palaeobotanist Scott Hocknull and digital initiatives manager David Pyle, to incorporate their insights and make the experience as authentic as possible.

The project culminated in a showcase at the museum during the Humanitix event, where visitors could interact with the exhibit. This experience enhanced my technical abilities and deepened my understanding of how technology can enhance the appreciation of history and culture. The collaboration was a valuable opportunity to apply my skills in a real-world context.
